Customer Case Study: Procter & Gamble
Background & Goal
Procter & Gamble (P&G), a global leader in consumer goods, has set an ambition to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across their operations and supply chain, from raw material to retailer, by 2040. P&G has already achieved a significant milestone by transitioning to over 99% purchased renewable electricity for their global operations. To support this initiative, P&G has partnered with Flexidao, leveraging their expertise in renewable energy management, to help enhance transparency and stewardship of its renewable electricity portfolio.
The Challenge
As one of the largest global consumer goods companies, P&G operates a diverse portfolio of renewable electricity sources, such as Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and unbundled Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs). P&G requires efficient and accurate data management as well as credible reporting of renewable energy usage to help manage the complexities of a growing global portfolio.
The Solution
P&G engaged Flexidao to help effectively tackle these challenges via accurate tracking and reporting mechanisms and tools. This partnership focused on enhancing P&G’s ability to monitor and manage its renewable electricity portfolio and to transparently communicate its renewable electricity usage digitally.
The collaboration began with a comprehensive review of P&G's existing renewable electricity portfolio and tracking in the platform.
Key Implementation Steps:
- Assessment of Energy Portfolio: P&G, with Flexidao's support, conducted a thorough evaluation of its energy consumption and renewable electricity contracts across its global operations.
- Data Tracking Initiatives: The partnership implemented systems to enable digitized tracking of renewable electricity consumption, facilitating accurate reporting and compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Ongoing collaboration allowed for regular assessments and adjustments to renewable electricity procurement strategies through a clear innovation roadmap that anticipates and reacts to evolving market conditions and regulatory requirements.
Results
This partnership has helped P&G improve data tracking and digitization and build its reporting capabilities with more accurate and transparent reports on renewable energy usage. The streamlined process has enabled P&G to continue to make progress towards its sustainability ambitions while driving business value from operational efficiency.
